Whoo Hoo I love it when the parcel man calls. At lunchtime the Home Delivery van brought me two books from Amazon. Not the Tunisian book that has been on it's way via Royal Mail since Saturday but the 2010 Crochet Calendar and Scrap Crochet book. The calendar has 105 projects listed. I don't think that you are meant to crochet everything in one day as some of the items are quite big. I have got 4 yrs of calendars now and have pre ordered the calendar for 2011. They are full of ideas for small gifts for presents and raffle prizes.
The Scrap crochet book is by Annie's attic 879548 and again is full of lovely ideas to make from the scrap yarn that everyone has left over from projects. I will post more photos later but I could not resist the rather hippy looking child's jacket and the fun tea cosy with it's daffodil trim. I must try to make one of those for the Towneley Hall Tea Cosy project. I haven't forgotten my promise to show you what is in the Tunisian Crochet book but I have so many photos today that I will leave them for another day.
Royal Mail knocked this afternoon with a parcel of yarn sent to me by the lovely Ambermoggie. She has made herself a gorgeous knitted jacket with the blue and has these balls left over. Unfortunately the yarn didn't agree with her hands and caused them to break out once again. Last year she had terrible trouble with them and had to knit wearing gloves so the last thing that she wants is another break out. My favourite colour is purple and all shades of it. I was really l pleased to see that the iris have bloomed in my garden. My garden has been so badly neglected of late and has so little colour in it that it was a lovely surprise to see the bluebells and now the iris. There is also a clump of lovely pinky purple flowers over by the gatepost. You can tell that I am not a gardener as I have no idea what they are called but they are very pretty.
The little baby jacket is one of those 'made in a night' ones. It is crocheted top down and takes very little yarn so is ideal for those part balls. The pattern is a free one. If you are on Ravelry look for Rindy's patterns. She has many variations of a basic pattern using different colourways and some with short, medium or long sleeves.. I decided to jazz this one up with a small teddy motif. I just made a small circle and added little ears. The hardest part for me was the embroidery so I chickened out and used small buttons for the eyes.
