Last Of The She Ball Competitors

As promised yesterday these are the last of the entries for the Bolton Knitting Noras Sirdar She Ball Challenge. I have repeated Deb's toilet roll cover and bottle cozy as the photo turned out rather small yesterday.

The knitted cabled belt is Bev's entry. Oh how I envy her waistline! The hat complete with a beard is Lisa's entry. I think she deserves a medal just for wearing anything so itchy next to her face even if it was only for the photo. I am not sure how Caroline persuaded her cat to wear the tutu. She must have a very patient cat but even so I don't suppose that it stayed on for long!

I have finished off the red sweater finally. After two attempts to re knit the raglans of the sleeves the wool is looking rather crinkly but luckily it doesn't show as the wool is so randomly striped. I will take photos of it today and put it on the blog tomorrow.

I have been very sleepy so far today. I had a reasonable night's sleep, had my breakfast and then promptly fell asleep with my head resting in my hands on the computer desk. When I woke up I made a drink and then sat in the rocking chair by the patio doors to enjoy a bit of sunshine and fell asleep again. I think that I have got the sleepy sickness today as every time I sit down I fall asleep. Maybe my shower will waken me up. I hope so as I have a GP's visit later this afternoon.

Today is quite sunny. Not warm though as there is still a layer of frost on the neighbours car roofs. The sunshine is helping the amaryllis on it's final flowering of the season. It is going out with a bang instead of a whimper. It's last flowering has four flowers. Well two in bloom at the moment and two in bud ready to open very soon. I have placed it just in front of my sink so every time that I wash the dishes I can look at the lovely flowers.

I am trying to drum up some enthusiasm for returning to the striped knitting but for some reason it just isn't calling to me. I will finish it off eventually but I think it is going to be a case of knit a few rows on it and then do something else. I know from experience that if I try to push myself into finishing something that I am not keen on in one long knit then it stops me in my tracks and I just don't do anything.
I am sure that I will find something else to start and knit or crochet along side the striped sweater. I think that it is going to be a long WIP.

More She Ball Competitors

As I haven't got much of mine to show you today I thought that i would show you three of the other Knitting Noras entries for the quirkiest thing that they could make with just one ball of Sirdar She Mohair. The top photo shows Deb's two entries. They bring back memories of my aunt who made almost everyone in the family a poodle toilet roll cover. I think this one is a bottle cover and the crinoline lady is the loo roll cover. The second photo was the first one to be finished and modelled. Eadaoin modelling at a Sunday Knit Club meeting much to the amusement of everyone there. The last photo is Sophie's necklace. She also made a hat. The competition is open to all Knitting Noras to vote and the results will be in a month or so. I will keep you posted and probably put photos of the other three entries on here tomorrow. You have already seen my gloves so there is no need to put them on here again.

I have managed to remake the sleeves of my chunky sweater and it is all stitched up now. I have to complete the knitting of the collar and stitch on the buttons and then it will be finished.

I haven't done a lot of knitting today as I was doing some washing and then watching Julie from next door trimming her trees with the help of her friend. They also cut down one branch from my tree at the front which only needed a couple more inches of growth and it would have been banging on Julie's telephone line so I asked if they would saw that branch off before it had chance to grow any taller. Now her trees have been pruned I think that she will find her lounge will be a lot warmer. It faces the same direction as mine and my room gets so hot in the summer. I think that her trees were blocking all of her sunlight.

Thanks Andy for telling me that you are back to your blogging. I am feeling very guilty as I have been very tardy lately at reading the blogs that I normally keep up with on a daily basis. I must set aside an hour or so this week and catch up with everyone's news.

She Ball Challenge

A little while ago the Bolton Knitting Noras were donated some wool. Amongst this wool were several balls of pink Sirdar She Mohair. It was decided to have a little competition between a few of the members to see what they could make from a ball of mohair. So far there has been a hat, a knitted heart shaped bikini, a necklace complete with pearls. A poodle bottle cover, a toilet roll crinoline lady cover, a cat's tutu. This is my attempt. Long fingerless mitts crocheted with a bright pink silky trim and laced up with pink cord. When everyone has finished there will be a vote by the members and small prizes for the winner.

I am not sure if anyone will want to wear these rather itchy bright pink mohair long opera mitts. Certainly not me as I itch like crazy if anything remotely woolly makes contact with my skin. My palms and fingers were red and itchy whilst I was crocheting these.

I didn't do any other knitting yesterday as I wanted to finish off this project. I was doing a bit of housework yesterday but as I am so slow there is still plenty to do today. I need to do some shopping and collect a prescription so I don't think much knitting or housework will be done today. I am so slow with my shopping so it takes me a couple of hours to walk up to the village, shop and walk down again.

One thing that we got shown at the pre knee operation meeting was an actual replacement knee joint. It is all made of titanium and we were all struck by the sheer weight of it. I am already battling with my weight and the fact that I will eventually have two of these will add a few pounds as I am sure that the kneecap that they remove weighs less than these replacements will do.

The apple shaped frame is a recipe holder that I got yesterday from Betterware. I have often thought of getting a sheet music holder to hold my patterns and books whilst I work so when I saw this I immediately saw the possibility. Holding the pattern up at an angle makes it far easier to read than laid flat on my coffee table. It seems sturdy enough to hold a pattern book as well as a single sheet.
pattern.

Time for a coffee before I drag my trusty shopping trolley out of the garage and head off to do a bit of shopping.
