The ramblings of an enthusiastic crocheter ( and knitter) also about my everyday life, animals, shopping, whinges and whines. A woman being dragged kicking and screaming into old age. Yes I dye my hair blonde and listen to modern music - why not?

Doris Chan's Crochet Lacy Duster Coat
The Pink Duster coat is finished. Although it isn't as bright a pink as it appears in the photos I don't think that pink is my colour. The nearest photo to the actual colour is the last one.
I think I would be far happier with it if I had made it in black. I may make another or perhaps the Amsterdam coat also by Doris Chan which I don't think is quite so open. I won't be passing this coat on to my niece as she isn't keen on the colour either. I am not too bothered if I don't wear it as I was only using up some bargain stash wool. I wanted to see if I liked the design before I committed any expensive wool to it and then felt obliged to wear it whether I liked it or not because of the money I had spent on the wool.
The pattern stitches are quite pretty so I have included close ups of the stitches. The free pattern can be found by clicking on the blog title. I made mine without increasing the sleeves into a bell shape. I prefer a straighter sleeve.
I have started a capelet from the Superior crochet book for my sister in law but as I have only done a couple of rows I will post a photo tomorrow when there is more to show.
Beautiful job! Thanks for the reference to where I can find the free pattern too, as I think this would be a stunning sweater, come Spring, to wear over skirts and dresses for Sunday Church Services!
ReplyDeleteI love this Jan, it is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteI'm also picturing it longer to the floor and in multicoloured yarn:)
Love it! You have done a beautiful job of it and the pink colour is really pretty. I think it would also look lovely in black and worn over other colours for a special occasion.
ReplyDeleteWow that's bigger than I thought it would be! Very pretty my dear! :-) I agree black would have been a nice choice also.
